Best Answer Navaratri is going on. This is a Spring one. Chaitra. The actual Navaratri. Today is the 3rd Day of Navaratri.
Ram was born on Navami, the 9th day of this Navaratri.
So it is also known as Ramnavami.
When Ram was fighting Ravana, he was not making any headway. So he decided to invoke the Goddess for strength. He performed a 10 day Durga Puja on the beaches .He received blessings and weapons for Victory.
He fought those 9 days and won every day.
On 10th day, he won over Ravana.
Then he burnt the 3, Ravana, Kumbhakarana and Meghnath on the 10th day before Sunset.
Rama made this 2nd Navaratri happen in Sept-Oct. For strength we worship the Goddess then.
So we celebrate Navaratri twice a year.
Now and one in Sep-Oct.
