Description

IRDF is a tax-exempt organization under the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, Section 501 (c) (3). (Tax identification number: 94-3274500). In 1996 a few Indian Americans living in the United States of America, became the change agents to translate the dream of giving back to the country of their birth. They realized that poverty is the worst malady and that the remedy was education, healthcare and social development. They set out to refine, define and foster a prosperous rural India, along with the financial support of many successful Indian 's in the US. Today, India Rural Development Fund projects have helped many poor rural families in India. All members of India Rural Development Fund work on a voluntary basis with no financial compensation. Administrative expenses are less than two per cent of all funds raised. Our communications with India and project monitoring is done through individual visits, telephone calls, project status reports, and e-mail. Contact us for latest financial statements IRDF is committed to enhancing the lives of the underprivileged in rural India primarily through education IRDF partnering with other nonprofit organizations would like to achieve the following goals in rural India: - access to primary and vocational education; - reduce population growth rate; - reduce infant mortality, and improve health and hygiene; - promote sustainable economic development. The Fund has two types of project models. Fixed Duration Projects: The Fund ties up with a non-governmental organization (NGO) in India and supports projects that are typically up to a year duration. Examples of such projects are health camps, family planning camps, link roads, and other infrastructure projects. Permanent Institution Projects: In these projects the Fund helps NGOs that are interested in establishing new rural schools, adult education centers including vocational training, and health centers. The Fund not only finances these projects, but also tries to identify property donors in India
